| Houston Texans History The Houston Texans are members of the AFC South Conference of the National Football League. Their home is in Houston,Texas. As an expansion team, the Houston Texans joined the NFL in 2002. After the Houston Oilers, which are now the Tennessee Titans, moved to Nashville in 1997, Houston was without a team that was there since 1959. Two men, Bob McNair and Chuck Watson who couldn't get an NHL franchise in Houston began to look to the NFL for a team. October 6, 1999, McNair's group was awarded the 32nd franchise to Houston as well as the 2004 Super Bowl. In the spring of 2000 Houston celebrated the groundbreaking of Reliant Stadium. state-of-the-art facility would have 69,500-seats and become the NFL's first retractable-roof stadium. |
